People may say that Valentine’s Day is about spending time with the one you love and showing the one you love just how much you love them with small heart felt tokens of affection. These tokens of affection can be handmade or little love notes sprayed with perfume and tucked in to the pocket of your jacket etc. but really we all know in our hearts heart that that is just a load of bull dust. Valentine’s Day is all about showing the one you love just how much you love them with presents. Because if you get them a sucky present it is obvious to everyone just how much you don’t care about them at all; that’s science that is.
Valentine’s Day is quite literally the best holiday in the entire calendar; it’s better than Christmas, your birthday, Rosh Hashana or Mother’s Day put together. Valentine’s Day is a day about love, gifts, wining and dining, romance and a little something something when the light go out. But that’s not entirely why we love Valentine’s day – well it is sort of. But really we love Valentine’s Day because for one day a year you can be totally and utterly cheesy in your declarations of love. You can channel your inner Lloyd Dobbler and stand outside their window at 3am in the morning playing Celine Dion’s “My heart will go on” you can buy them a bunch of red roses and recite your favourite, soppiest love poem and no one will bat an eyelid.
If you want to send them a bottle of champagne and handcuffs you can do that and if you want to buy them a diamond ring (or a Cubic Zirconium ring rather) and then stutter awkwardly when they think you’re proposing that’s fine too. Whatever you want to do how ever soppy just go for it. Be the metrosexual she’s always wanted and book a couples massage, get a man-icure (gettit) or if you two are adventure junkie abseil down a mountain or go white water rafting.
You can even declare your love by writingit in the sky, tattooing it on your forehead or pierce things that should never be pierced – the day is yours, the spirit of romance will inspire you to seize the day.
