Pear Malva Pudding – A Recipe from The Bakery at NetFlorist

This is a dish that I prepared daily at SOS in London.  It was one of the favourites on the menu.  We easily sold 80 portions of this goodness a day.  Enjoy this sweet and saucy delicious pudding that is really easy to make!

  2. Set aside

Pudding:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180˚C
  2. Beat the butter and sugar together until creamy and smooth. Add the egg.
  3. Add the jam and mix well.
  4. Sift the dry ingredients except for the bicarbonate of soda together set aside.
  5. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the milk and let it fizz for a few seconds.
  6. Now add half of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Add the milk and bicarbonate mixture.  Then add the rest of the dry ingredients.
  7. Add the vinegar to the mix. Now add the pears.
  8. Pour the mixture in a baking dish of your choice. Pour half of the sauce over the batter.
  9. Cover with tin foil and bake for 35minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven. Remove the foil and pour the rest of the sauce over evenly. Return to the oven for another 15 minutes uncovered.
  11. The pudding will be soft and saucy when removed from the oven. It is a much softer texture than your traditional malva pudding.

This dessert is best served warm with lots of thick pouring cream on the side.

Happy Baking!
